Massage definitely helps me - especially sinus related congestion. Last year, I started seeing a massage therapist about once a month during the winter months to help with drainage. I found that it definitely helped with the sinus congestion and pressure. I don't necessarily think it should replace CPT - not that you were suggesting it - but I definitely see an impact from it as well.

I think massages work wonders - not just to get stuff up but to help you breathe better.

Just think of it this way - if you are breathing more rapidly or coughing more frequently you are using all of those accessory muscles in your back and such. Massaging them will loosen them up some making it not so unpleasant to take a bit deeper breathe and to cough a little harder if need be.

I actually had my doc write a script for neuromuscular massage to treat muscle spasms caused by CF related coughing and muscle spasms. Seemed to work cause I got several massages paid for by my insurance - actually got my transplant doc to write me a script to cause I have had some back pain from my incisions and it has been covered by my insurance too - if going through a physical therapy center.

Take Care,
Lindsey
