I second the vote for SSI. We tried for 18 months to get it for Reece & FINALLY was approved! Even if you get a $1 SSI check, you still qualify for Medicaid. Its worth a try! It has helped us out sooo much! But the down side is you do have to make under a certain amount....my hubby can never get a raise or we will loose Medicaid<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

I pay an astronomical amount out of pocket for medical expenses as well.. The one benefit is, all that you paid is not taxable income, so you should get anything you paid in taxes back..
Make sure you do an item deduction, this way you will get more money back.. I am an RN, and I don't qualify for any programs at this point.. Finacially, I would have done better staying a nursing assistant... the help I would have gotten from my low income, would make up for my salary now...
