Medical Marjuana question

Well i was a several times a day pot smoker for over 15 years and my lung function from the day i started to the day i stopped, declined by only 7-10%. Since i gave it up totally 4 months ago, it's declined another 15%!!!

However, my appetite is better and more consistent, as i eat rather than roll up another smoke, so i've put on nearly 20 pounds since giving up.

I feel better in myself, moodwise, appetite wise, energy wise, since giving up, but my lungs feel more inflamed and i hardly ever cough up junk now, which i believe is what has made my lung function plummet.

I think it's high time (excuse the pun) that somebody started doing some serious research with CFers and marijuana.

Smoking it made me worse... but a friend of mine brought back an awesome book from Amsterdam with hundreds of "baked" goods... <u>not sorry for the pun</u>, lol. I seldomly partake so I never really noticed a difference in eating it... except I couldn't quit thinking about the taste of the icing from the cookies in my gums and I craved more...

Good Luck

recently as i have been waiting on the lung TX list my doctor has prescribed marinol to take to help with appetite and nausea. i find that it works for me. i do get the munchies and eat hoards of food, but at the same time it does make me high. (which i don't always consider to be a good side effect.)

i have never smoked anything, and can safely say i probably never will. i don't notice the marinol helping or hurting my lungs one way or the other. but i do eat! (although i'm still only 90 pounds)

i am really glad that it worked out for me the way it did. i think if they had prescribed it to me as a "healthy" teenager it would have been totally not necessary for me at the time. but as i am very sick now and my body burning so many calories just to breathe, i am very thankful for medical marijuana.

i'm also a Christian and don't drink/do drugs anything, but i can truly take marinol and pain meds when needed with a clear conscious because i know they are helping me and i am not abusing them.

i totally think they should do more research regarding marinol (thc) and CF. and if i had to guess, i bet they would actually start prescribing it more often. and although my weight is not very high, it has helped me stabilize and just enjoy eating again (which i think is a big deal)

hope that helps

The experience I had with "pot" was way different that any of these!!! LOL!!! Which is EXACTLY why I like to keep me as "chemically" balanced as possible...

YEARS ago, I thought taking a little "hit" wouldn't kill me and I did... I got EXTREMELY paranoid (possibly because I had SMOKED and I have CF)and got super anxious... I remember I was watching the movie Daylight and thought to myself, "what would I do if I were stuck in the I90 tunnel?" which immediately gave me an anxiety attack!!! So I decided I should head to the store to get ice cream... I headed to the store (not condoning ANY of this BTW)and after traveling at a brisk 30 miles per hour on the side of the highway I arrived at the store... I finally went in after circling the parking lot because I thought the car behind me ws following me, and I was SURE EVERY person in Safeway knew I had smoked pot and they were all looking at me!!! LMAO!!! SO I headed back to the car where I proceeded to call my mother and have her come get me...
So needlesstosay, I am not a pot doer at all...
OH to be young again!!! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">
