Melissa- Have I got this right? I'm still confused!

Say you go into the hospital for two weeks and then afterward, if you stay out for a full 60 days, the inpatient deductible ($1024) is reset and you pay that again for the next admission.

If you go into the hospital, are discharged, and then admitted again within 60 days, you're still on the original inpatient deductible. Does that inpatient deductible still only cover 60 consecutive days from your first discharge, and then you start paying co-insurance? Or do they start counting the number of days you're in the hospital, up to 60?

Thanks for your help!

If you get d/c & readmitted within 60 days you only pay the inpatient deductable that one time (no matter how many times you are d/c & readmitted during that 60 days), BUT if you go over that 60 days (whether it be in 1, 2 or 3 admits in that 60 days) then you go into co insurance days.

So if your first admit was 10 days, then the 2nd admit was 10 days & the 3rd admit was 10 days......you still have up to 30 days to use (IF it all takes place within 60 days of each other) before you pay another inpatient deductable & go into co insurance days.

Then to top it off there are only a certain amount of co insurance days (cant remember if its 30 or 60) & you go into LTR (life time reserve days) where you pay even more per day. The difference with LTR is that once you use them you dont get anymore....its lifetime.

Most of the co insurance & LTR are used on patients awaiting nursing home placement.
