At the end of Feb. of 2010 I miscarried after roughly a month and half (estimated). I was on Creon 20. Zithromax. Prilosec. Birth Control. Allegra. Advair. Pulmozyme. and Tobi.

I was just reading some info on Creon and it said that it can be harmful to an unborn. Did anyone else have a 'whoops' and lost it due to med's?? I don't want to speak with my doctor about it due to the fact I ain't trying and at my hospital there are quite a bit of girls 16-2? who find out they are pregnant when they go in for tune-ups and I am a very very careful person. I have only slept with my now ex (we split due to my cf...he was stressin too much and couldnt deal with my health..) and I know if I talk to my doctor he will assume im trying or wanting to try and I ain't...

I did speak to my gyno who said it IS possible to get prgnant (after i was told it was impossible) haha....

Also my last question..How did any of you women out there deal with a miscarriage? I am having a hard time because this Oct-Nov I would have had a child turning 1 and I'm dealin with it really hard. I aint depressed or nothing. I just don't really know how to cope because no one else I know is dealing with this....Any advice??

Just wondering why you were still on birth control if you were pregnant?? Maybe that had something to do with it?? Have you looked into Zithromax and pregnancy? Antibiotics usually aren't good during pregnacy. I was on everything else you mentioned (except birth control and zithromax) during my pregnancy and was fine, however, everyone and every pregnancy is different, cf or not. Does your CF doctor know you were pregnant and miscarried?? I think that he should know that for sure!

Hormonal birth control can cause miscarriages. The warning on the package specifically states to stop taking birth control if you have any suspicion that you might be pregnant, for this reason.

I can't imagine that Creon would contribute to misccarriage, and the other meds you list are not associated with a risk of birth control.

That said, certain antibiotics can negate the effectiveness of hormonal birth control. I have no idea if Zithromax is one of those antibiotics. However, as a CFer relying upon hormonal birth control and with the high likelihood that you *will* be on antibiotics, you should probably always check whether the antibiotics you are currently taking interact with your birth control pills.

Yes, I told my Gyno about it. Everything was fine after though. & I didn't know I was pregnant until it was too late. I had no signs that stuck out extremely except for my craving of s'ghetti and that I just halked up to being a normal teen. I had no idea I was pregnant or even suspected it and by the time I realized it, I miscarried that follwing week before I could even get into my Gyno. Everything since then is fine.
I just tend to have days where its hard on me. Not to the point where I am depressed cuz I am very good about keeping myself up about life and it's happenings, but I just sometimes feel 'hard hits' and wondered what helped some of you deal on those dyas for you..

Miscarriages are surprisingly common. Many women who get their period "late" actually are having a very early miscarriage. It is possible that one of your drugs was the cause however is is more probable that it was just a "regular" miscarriage and nothing you could have done would have changed it. All of the drugs you mentioned besides birth control can be taken during pregnancy. And there are plenty of women on birth control who get pregnant and don't realize it right away and still go on to have healthy pregnancies.

I had a miscarriage in 2007 and it just plain sucks. And even though you were young and didn't want/need a baby I'm sure it must have been painful. The best thing is to realize that you just weren't ready and maybe the universe knew. And know that you CAN go on to be a mom (after you finish college that is ). There is lots of life to live before having kids and there are still things I wish I had done before having mine (and they were totally planned and wanted).

best of luck!
