So you already have 2 children, but you want more?
Don't you know the world will be overpopulated soon and the natural resources will run out? Can't you stop being ignorant and selfish for a second and start thinking that you aren't doing anyone any good by making babies like a factory, especially potentially defective ones?

So you think that children of CF'ers are "defective"? Isn't that a bit harsh? If I am going to have children, they will be carriers, but I won't see them as defective, and I will tell them to take care all the neccessary precautions if they want to have children themselves. My parents didn't know they were carriers, but I still am glad they had me, "defective" as I am!

eeeeh, this is really getting into a medical ethics territory. There's no right answer, it's all down to how you feel personally. I stick by being extremely informed and then making the best decision you can based on that information. We will argue all day about medical ethics and eugenics and get nowhere.

For me personally, there's no way I would procreate knowing my offspring would be carriers. That's just my personal view and I don't pretend to be more correct than anybody else. I base my view on the presumption that if I had the power to cure CF, I would. In light of that, I would never do anything to potentially perpetuate the disease or the defective gene. Again, that's just my personal view and it is not my intention to sway the opinion of the OP or anyone else.

On a technical note, Stephen was correct in that most CF males have CBAVD, where the vas deferens never form and sperm cannot get out of the testicles. Some are able to conceive naturally, but it's a very small percentage. A simple sperm count by a urologist will let you know.

Best of luck!

Wow manyx you seem quite bitter....And I feel like there is no point in even trying to defend myself, bc your views are exactly that...YOUR VIEWS! Not mine or the views of many other people.
I would be around to raise the potential children we might have... God only knows the kids I have now could be carriers and no one would know without testing them, just like most people who have CF now their parents never knew they were gonna make a child with cf.... People die everyday and people are born everyday, thats what is suppossed to happen, that's what we are here for...But whatever....
Some people have a stronger urge than others to have children, and we would like to have one.... Just don't know if it's possible...thats all my question was to begin with...not the ethics of it, not the scientific test tube babyness of it.... But thanks to the people that did give me good answers.
