Miralax

They just put my little girl on it. She was starting to have stomach pains and then started throwing up. Luckily we had made a GI doc appointment for general purpose before her symptoms starting acting up. She had a partial blockage and we started the miralax.

She started with a two day flush, which was just a stronger mixture. Then she went on a maintaince dose. Can't remember the exact dosage, but what I've read here seems right, half a cap.

After that episode, probably won't be a bad ideal for CFers to be on something. She hasn't had any prior GI issues, but I get the feeling its when, not if, with CFers.

One note, our GI doc said don't use the generic Miralax. Don't know why, but she was specficialy told us that.

AUradar is correct about staying on maintainance dosages.

For those of you that have little ones that don't like Miralax, neither did Nathan. Once he was doing good with the maintance dosages and was old enough to swallow pills, we switched to Fibercon with Calcium pills that he takes twice a day now. He hated the Miralax but needed something so we compromised with his doc and switched to the pill and it is working just as well for us, probably because he will take the pill but won't drink anything. So as your little ones get bigger and can swallow pills and are fighting the Miralax, keep in mind that you can try other things.

We had the generic once, and Francis couldn't stand it: BAD taste, he said. But he has 1/2 a cap every day (he's 5 and a 1/2 and weighs about 43#) with nary a complaint. Costco has the best deal $-wise.
