Hello, Joshua..

Personally speaking, I could never put another child through what my dd goes through. My ex and I did not know we were carriers when she was diagnosed at 4 months. Even though she's only 8, she's had more than 10 hospitalizations, 4 this year, and is currently on homebound school until spring and on O2. That being said, everyone with CF is different..it's kind of like that line from Forrest Gump.."You never know what you're gonna get".

From an insurance standpoint, most policies have caps, and depending on medical issues, $2 million is not a large number. (That was our cap.) Piper would have already met that had I not divorced and got her on Medicaid. My advice would definitely be to look into the IVF/PGD. There are worse things than CF, it's true, but why put any child through something that's avoidable?

Joshua,
Good luck. My husband and I have been struggling with the same decision for months now. You're going to end up doing what you and your wife feel good about and that will be the right decision for you. No one can tell you what to do.
We have looked into IVF/PGD. We'd be doing it now if we could afford it. It's very expensive and our insurance won't cover any of it.
Here's a video (It's long but I really learned a lot!) where you can learn about it and see the process:

</a>Here's another page about it.
