Oh where to begin. M has CF, obviously. He has Short Bowel Syndrome. Only 2 of his 4 bowel surgeries was actually related to the CF. The firt was the meconium illeum, the second was the take-down after that surgery. He also had micro-colon, not believed to be directly related to the CF. He has a g-tube related to his refusal and inability to take anything orally after his second surgery, possibly considered secondary to CF but possibly not. His last bowel surgery was caused by adhesions from his first 3 surgeries and not CF at all.
He has bottle rot (thanks birthmom). He has strabismus with mild amblyopia already setting in (thanks foster mom for never bothering to treat it).
He has Developmental delays and was officially diagnosed as mildly mentally retarded last fall.
He was significantly speech delayed which is mostly resolved now.
And, the OT who looked at him informally while he was hospitalized is positive he has Sensory Processing Disorder and needs OT for it.
Oh, and last but not least, he has cirrohsis of the liver which doctors are *now* saying is completely caused by the CF. However, when it originally showed up (he was not born with it), the liver bioposy at the time showed it was caused by the prolonged TPN usage and not the CF. No one is sure why his spleen is hugely enlarged but the u/s tech assures us in a car wreck he would likely die instantly.
As for January, he is now dangerously deficient in his fat soluble vitamins. No one can decide if this is CF related, Short Bowel related or continued deterioration of his liver related.
That's all I can think of right now.
