Motorcycles!!

Okay, well, since we've had quite a few topics on here that have either depressed people or pissed them off, how about something on the brighter side! Does anyone here ever riden on/own a motorcycle?

My dad and sister both have Harley-Davidsons. My dad's is a 2005 Fat Boy, and my sister's is a 2005 Sportster. My dad used to ride all the time when he was younger, but gave it up when I was born as a precaution. Now that I'm past 18, he decided to go get another one. I'd never been on a motorcycle before, but let me tell you, it's awesome! Some people think it's dangerous, but it actually does a great job of clearing my head when I ride with Dad on the bitch pad (slang term for the extra seat behind the rider). There's something so soothing about the open road that it actually helps me relax. Plus, I'll tell ya, the vibration from the engine underneath you works very well as a chest PT! *lol*

I was just wondering if anyone else here has a passion for motorcycles. Just curious

I rode a motorcycle for the first time recently.

I can't understand why they're not even more popular. Compact (so there's less parking issues), better mileage than a hybrid electric car, fast, adventurous, sporty... heck, if I ever get that osteoporosis under control (so I don't break my spine if I fall), I am sooooo getting one.

Are you sure you liked the engine shaking for its mucous-clearing effect, though?

I have a motorcycle and have had one for along time. They are awesome and the feeling of freedom is incredibile. I say this even after I have had children. I am more careful now but the mindset has never changed!

My first date with my husband was for a Harley Diabetes fundraiser. A few weeks later, on my biorthday, he got into an accident and totaled his bike (he walked away!). He decided to stop riding, but we borrowed his brother's bike and rode it from our wedding ceremony to our reception in all our wedding garb. It was awesome. There was even a big picture of it in our newspaper!!

My highschool sweetheart had a motorcycle & became hooked. My brother has always had one & has his share of accidents under his belt (which compared to how long he has been riding really isnt a lot) & would love for my husband to get one. It doesnt have to big or expensive, but something that he & I can jump on & take off for the day. My daughter loves them & she has never ridden on one, but she has such a passion for them. She has lots of toy ones & always finds the "pocket" motorcycles when they are on display at a dealer long before we ever see them. Do I worry about the dangers that come with them? Hell yeah, but I know a lot of people that just as dangerous if not more dangerous behind the wheel of a car. It gives such a free feeling that words cant describe!

My boyfriend bought me a motorcycle two summers ago and I am still building up confidence to actually ride it-- other than in our alley. It is a 1975 Honda CB 350 Four, red metal speck, in impeccable condition. He found it on the Internet about a month after I told him I wanted a vintage motorcycle and surprised me with it. The last time I tried I dropped the bike, skinned my knee and broke the clutch grip/handle right off. Luckily, it was only $10 for the replacement piece and we did it ourselves. My only issue is that I'm small, and short, and while the bike is a very small one, it is still sort of a struggle to keep it up with my own two feet. It is a pretty sweet bike... very rock and roll. I plan on taking a motorcycle safety course once I can sit and ride without dropping the poor thing. I've been learning a little bit of bike mechanics, too, which is a lot of fun. I will probably upgrade to a vintage Triumph once I am a confident and safe rider.

Sweet! My b/f really wants a motorcyle now, too. After he finishes with his car payments he's going to try and get one... You know, I wonder if they have any motorcycle ralleys for CF...you know, one of those big group rides people do to raise money for cancer and the like? I should see if they have one for CF somewhere... If not, it sure would be cool to start one!

Anyone into choppers? They are sweet. I love watching the guys on American Chopper fabricate/build choppers. Paully and Vinnie aren't too bad on the eyes either

The guys from American Chopper are about 45 minutes away from me. I didnt realize the show syndicated. I thought it was a local show for us. Where do you live?

I actually am terrified of motorcycles. I am not quite sure why. My dad used to take me when I was little and we would drive up the canyon. I always thought I was going to fall off the side of the mountain. My husband and I have a scooter. Much safer I think it just doesnt have as much power. Although my husband would really love to have a motorcycle. I just keep putting my foot down

My exhusband had a motorcycle while we were dating and although i was a bit scared, it was very cool. When we got divorced i got a Car and built it into a muscle car and am LOVING every moment of it ! I joined a car club and am now a judge in the club so i get to judge others cars and motorcycles. Just did a show yesterday and saw 2 real nice Harleys. Come to think of it.... I have a female iguana named Harley....lol

Lilith, We had a car show here (in Pa.) that benefitted cystic fibrosis. I got a few friends to go with me and we all competed in the show. It was cool but i never did find out how much they raised. I'll go again next year as well. A bike show or cruise for cf would be very cool as well !

Awesome! I think it's great that there are so many people on this site with the same interests ^_^ Car shows are pretty cool, too! Oh, and since we own two Harleys, when we got a new kitten (cute as a button, female), we named her Harlie because she's orange with black stripes *lol*
