MRSA

My son cultured it at age 4, totally out of the blue. We tried EVERYTHING to get rid of it at first culture. Rifampin, Bactrim, Bactoban in the nose, Phisohex baths and IV Vanco. He still cultures it almost every time a year alter. It is so frustrating but we've tried everything. So far his PFTS are amazing 156%FEV and MRSA isn't wreaking havoc but I still hate that it's there. Maybe we'll try IV again?

I've had two bouts with MRSA. The first they put me on bactrim for about a year and it disappeared. The moment I stopped taking the bactrim it came back, now zyvox doesn't really get rid of it. It's hard to get rid of. Can live in your sinuses (most medical workers have it in their nose) and in the lungs. If you'e in hospital, you're being exposed to mrsa. Easy as that. Mask up and use hand sanitizer and keep your hands away from your face. Its not a death sentence, I agree.
