MRSA

UPDATE: I spoke to my clinic today and the nurse told me unless mucus gets into an open wound on someone else, MRSA wouldn't be transmitted to them. She said the baby is just as likely to pick up some kind of bug from the grocery store, church or from her parents bringing it home from work than from me being around her. So I sent an email to my cousin explaining as well as offering to set her pediatrician straight. This disease is hard enough with out ill-informed doctors spreading fear of the CF community by telling people we're "contagious". Also, I'm having my dr send me info to give my cousin cuz I know she won't believe it coming from me- I'm not a doctor after all. Thanks for the support everyone.

My son started culturing it at age 4. We tried everything to eradicate it but nothing worked. Our younger healthy son (no CF) was also swabbed and he also came out positive for it! We were shocked although we are aware that a lot of people are carriers. Unfortuantely our healthy son keeps getting MRSA skin infections. He just had his 7th one. We cannot seem to keep the MRSA from going back and forth. It is so frustrating and is keeping them out of school. I am at my wit's end and don't know what to do about it.

I hate that Aidan has it and it just never seems to go away despite aggressive treatment. It doesn't seem to give him as many problems as it gives our healthy son. Ugh

I was told by my Cf nurse that a huge part of the population have MRSA, but only a small amount of it. i have a 16 month old daughter and im sure she has it to just like my husband. but they have healthy immune systems so it doesnt affect them like it does me. Apparently they have a small amount usually in there nose. It scares me a bit, but there is nothing i can do about. So i try not to think about it.
