MRSA

Thanks for all the replies. I have learned quite a bit from everyone.

After reading all this though, now I wonder and am worried what are the chances of me passing this to my children, or anyone else for that matter. Do you need to take any precautions when you are out shopping, dining, etc.? Or for instance, when I take my child to the dr.'s office, do I need to inform them I have cultured mrsa or what?

Thanks everyone!

Julie,

As far as passing MRSA, it is found everywhere. I would just recommend good handwashing and all the other basic things you would normally do to not get sick or anything.

As far as clinic, I have to sit in a special waiting room and wear a mask. It is standard procedure when I go to clinic along with all the other CFers. Plus, they have each CFer come in on a different day based on what they are culturing. When we are admitted into the hospital, they put us in different wings of the hospital and keep us confined in a pressurized room. Visitors, nurses, and others are suppose to wear full contact isolation gowns and masks. They even give each of us different nurses and so forth in each wing to be sure not to cross-contaminate.

To my knowledge, doctors check for all bacterium in each sputum culture. You can suggest it your doctor and see what they say. Good luck!

Amy,

You would think they would take just as much concern but no. They blew the PA off like it was nothing, yet the MRSA sentence was like, "Oh My God".
