I'll use a little Dixie cup to spit into (especially when doing HTS), and when I'm done, I run it under the faucet (yes, I throw it away, but I don't want to put a whole wad of goo in the trash if I can put it down the drain), and it takes actual scraping to get it to let go of the cup. Even on full faucet "blast". Heh.

</end quote></div>

Need Roto Rooters # yet! Wonder if it clogs up the plumbing? Hmmmm

Yes, my mucous is very thick especially when infection sets in. It is so gross sometimes!! It plugs up my trach easily, suctioning doesn't even put a dent in at times. It is the mucous that binds us (Ace Ventura) LOL...hugs, Jenn <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Putting it down the drain is a bad idea since it's so sticky. It can stay in there and harbor water-borne bacteria. Eventually you could have a fungus or mold problem on your hands, and that is the LAST thing you want floating around in the air you breath.

I put my "coughy cup" in a sealed sandwich bag before throwing it into the trash. It's safer that way. Always be sure to wash your hands with soap and warm water after a mucus clearing session.
