You guys should spit into empty water bottles. The only problem I've found with this method is that if you're really in a bad coughing fit, sometimes your spit is larger than the top of the bottle or you miss. Thats unusual though. Its also fun to watch it slide down the side of the bottle. That's a great way to tell how sticky it is. Somedays it goes right down and others it gets stuck on the side and may take over an hour to fall down.

The best thing about spitting in bottles is that you have top and can re-use them a few times. I normally get them 1/3 full (16 oz) bottle and then toss em in the trash. Tissues got too messy and I was using way to many and always had them sitting around. Spitting in something without a top grossed me out. It won't spill if its in a water bottle. Its funny after a while, the mucus separates from the water and sits on the bottom of the bottle. Very weird. Almost looks like sand.</end quote></div>

OH NO NO NO NO makes me sick just thinking about it. **Gags** LMAO</end quote></div>

Sitting here with my hand on my stomach, trying to swallow, Mel- glad I'm not the only one- I was thinking "Am I a wimp?" lol. If I am, at least I'm not alone... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

My mucous is just how you described when I am getting a 'good cough' worth up, sometimes if I just get a bit of yellow it is not like that.

I drink tons of water and very little to no caffeine. I am currently udnergoing 3 allergy shots a week (I dont believe it coudl ever happen but I will keep you posted) to see if I can eventually not need an allergy pill---which can significantly thicken your mucous.

I only spit in a water bottle when I need to, i.e a car trip or somethign for the same reason---eeeww it groses me out! But it is cool to see the progress, I agree there.

How is spitting in a empty water bottle grosser than spitting in a cup or tissue. At least a water bottle has a screw on top. I agree its gross if you use it for a long time, but for a day or two its not that bad and it keeps you from using so many tissues. maybe if I didn't cough up so much junk i would use tissues.
