My CF-savvy kid

My Ahava doesn't have CF (obviously) but she is CF savvy. One time, she was about 2ish, she walked into our room while I was giving Ry physio, scowled and said "Ima! It's not nice to hit!" When she was little like that, Ry gave her an old neb cup, because she wanted to do it with him lol.

Later on in life, she was playing house with a boy she knew and insisted that the husband had to get 'beaten' at night.

Now, some of her stuffed animals get cystic fibrosis and various other ailments. I know, she's weird, but I wouldn't haev her any other way.

We have a picture of our middle son when he was about 2 and he is wearing a navy colored sweater vest. Every time Danny sees it he says that Matt has a vest just like him.

My daughter doesn't have cf either, but she has decided that her vitamins are her "pills" just like Mommy's. And the new threat around here is "If I have to stop this vest and take it off, you are in big trouble! Now go do what I told you to!"<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">

I don't think she's realized yet that other people's moms don't do all the rigamarole that hers does everyday. I take pills, the dog takes bloodpressure and thyroid meds, the cat takes a thyroid med- just something almost everybody else (except daddy) does everyday around here too<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">.

Awhile back sat down to have milk and a snack with DS and he was adamant that I have enzymes, too! Kept telling him I didn't need one, tried to pretend I took one -- finally just ate one to get him to leave me alone <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I just had to post this...I think it's so cute!

Emily's daycare teacher said today that when it is time to do her pt, several of the other kids sit down around Emily and the teacher and pat themselves on the chest. They say "Emmy, tap, tap," and bring toys and books to Emily for her to use while she get her treatment. I LOVE IT! I only hope she finds her friends to be so accepting at later stages in life.

We have a couple stories, too. Recently my daughter was admitted for a tune-up. The nurse came in at one point to access her PICC line and didn't have her gloves on. I heard my daughter say, rather matter-of-factly "You don't have your gloves on." The nurse looked surprised and told her she was right and quickly corrected herself. Even at 4, they really know the drill!

At the beginning of pre-school this year my daughter's teacher pulled me aside to let me know that the other kids in her class have all started wanting to take enzymes. She said they are jealous of Leila! I heard this from a couple other parents, too, that their kids have been asking for them at home. Oh how I wish this kind of support could continue.

Last year when my oldest (non-cf) daughter was just learning to ride a bike without training wheels she was showing off her talent and said "Look Mom, I'm making an enzyme!" At first I had no idea what she meant. Then as I watched she made the shape of an enzyme capsule repeatedly in the road. To this day she'll ask me if she can go outside and "make enzymes". Too cute.
