My eggies :)

Hey everyone, just a quick update

I went in for my ultrasound this morning, I have 14 follicles on my right side and 10 on the left. Almost all of them are the size that the doctors want before they retrieve them, 16-18mm. The doctor was impressed, said I was responding very good to the medications. They cut my dose in 1/2 2 days ago becuse my estradiol was at 1091 and had jumped to that number from 288 just 2 days earlier (no wonder I am so emotional <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ).

So, the doctor said they might give me my HCG injection (to trigger to release the eggs) tonight instead of tomorrow. Which means we will have the retrieval on Friday instead of Saturday, which means we will have the transfer a day earlier and that ultimately means (I am such a dork) that we will do our pregnancy test a day earlier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited!! Just wanted to keep everyone posted!

Leeann, my pregnancy test will be the 21st of february. They highly discourage Home pregnancy tests after IVF and even IUI with meds because of all the chemicals and such in body. A lot of false negatives and even more false positives.

Eli, So far I've only been through the meds portion. I'll tell you my schedule for everything (it's going to be LONG!)...Keep in mind I already had all my labs, HSG, SYStogram and other work ups at another clinic. That should take about 2-4 weeks before you start anything depending on how your clinic books up.
1/11/06-New patient appointment at clinic
1/12/06-Started period (crucial point for starting meds)
1/13/06-Had blood work in AM, recieved call in PM to start Birth control pills (BCP's)
1/14/06-Continue BCP's
1/15/06-Continue BCP's and start 20 units of LUPRON every AM (I used an insulin needle, very small, most painless and injected in stomach)
1/16/06-Continue BCP's and 20 Units Lupon every AM
1/17/06-Contineue BCP's and 20 units lupron every AM
1/18/06-Continue BCP's and 20 units of lupron every AM
1/19/06-Take last BCP tonight, continue to take 20 units of lupron (BCP's can be taken whenver you"regularly" schedule them)
1/20/06-20 Units Lupron every AM
1/21/06-20 units lupron ever AM
1/22/06-20 units lupron every AM. Started my period again (good think)
1/23/06-20 units lupron every AM
1/24/06-20 units lupron every AM, go to clinic for "suppression check"
1/24/06-Suppression check GOOD, instructed to start 150 IU of Follistim AQ in PM between 7-9pm and AM 7-9am (<a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.follistim.com">www.follistim.com</a>, Repronex 75 Units every PM, reduce LUPRON to 5 units every AM
1/25/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim and Repronex in PM
1/26/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim and Repronex in PM, AM appointment at clinic for labs (mainly estradiol)
1/27/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim and Repronex in PM
1/28/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim in PM, AM appointment at clinic today-blood work and transvaginal ultrasound. Recieved call to reduce follistim to 75 IU's, stop repronex and continue lupron in AM
1/29/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim in PM
1/30/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim in PM, AM appointment at clinic-blood work and transvaginal ultrasound. Recieved call, reduce follistim again to 37.5, continue lupron
1/31/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim in PM
2/1/06-Lupron and follistim in AM, follistim in PM, AM appt. at clinic-blood work and follicle count (transvaginal ultrasound). Recieved call from clinic, tonight is the HCG injection. Give at exacly 9:30. DO take follistim at 7pm and then discontinue ALL meds on 2/2/06.
2/2/06-AM appt. at clinic for blood work, went back in afternoon for "trial transfer" (very simple)

Retrieval is set for 2/3/06 and we are going to transfer day 5 embryo's so the transfer date will be 2/8/06. Bed rest on the day of the retrieval and the day of the transfer, "easy going" for 1-2 days to follow.

I am not sure at what stage clinics do their PGD. I believe every one of them is different. Here's a great resource to go to though, <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.inciid.org">www.inciid.org</a>. In the upper portion, a bit to the Left you will see (in SMALLL writing) something that says forums, click on it. Thenit will open up the "forums page" where you can choose which forums you want to look at. They have medical support forums where doctors will acutally come on and answer patient questions and then there are support forums where you can talk to others who have gone through IVF or who will be going through it or those who are in the middle of it. Here's the direct link: <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.inciid.org/index.php?page=forums">http://www.inciid.org/index.php?page=forums</a> and then I post on this one "Infertility Bulletin Boards, Chats & Forums" but I have browsed all of them.

I'll keep everyone posted as to how the retrieval went... I probably won't be back on until Saturday though.

Much love to all, thanks "family" for ALL of the support! Everyone has been wonderful!

As someone who was once where you are. Now the mother of preschool twins. Rest is essential after retreival and after transplant. We weren't successful the first round and I think that was due to not enough rest between retrieval and transfer only 2 days and not enough rest after transplant. The second round I took the entire week after transplant off and Viola - twins. Good luck! You're on an amazing journey.
