Bonnie,

Sorry that your insurance company denied the IVF route. I have no fertility coverage and wish I had gone straight to IVF (instead of wasting all the time with IUIs).

Look at the Attain IVF program online. It's a company that provides 3 fresh & 3 FET cycles for a set lump fee. If you get pregnant on try 1, you don't get a refund and if you get pregnant on try 6, then good for you (is less costly with this "grouped" cycle plan). If you don't get pregnant after 6 cycles, you get 70% refund. You can pull out after try 1 or 6 and get the 70% refund (meaning you don't have to use up your cycles to get the refund).

There is no set timeline, but I think you have to use them before you turn 35 -- I didn't know what your age was...

The attain program uses the ivf centers that they have approved. There is only 1 place in WI but it's my old RE and I don't want to use him; plus, my old center has not yet determined the pricing for these grouped cycles.

I am using fertility centers of illinois -- They don't want to put in 2 or more embryos but are willing to consider 2 if the quality of them are not grade A.

I was quoted $18,800 for this plan (doesn't include meds). My old center was $12,000 for one fresh cycle with each subsequent frozen being $4000. So even doing 2 cycles I would be paying $16,000. I'd rather pay $18000 and know I have up to 6 tries to bring home a baby.

Plus, 3 fresh ensures that I can get more embryos if 6 cycles dont work... hopefully I can have frozen embryos if I desire a second child (health permitting) in the future.

Good luck... Hope this can offer you some hope.

Thanks for the info Jenn. I'm assuming I am too old but it's worth looking into just in case they have other options for old ladies like me.
