Brittani I think you should do some reading up on pulmonary function tests so you can understand what your numbers mean. Here is a bit to get you started: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.webmd.com/lung/lung-function-tests
">http://www.webmd.com/lung/lung-function-tests
</a>
42/100 (42% FVC or FEV1) isn't a good number to have but you can probably bring it up by being proactive with your health - exercising and doing your treatments. Think of today as the first day of the rest of your life. You can do better when you know better. Education is key here.

Did your CF doctor give you an action plan to help you get your numbers up and your health better? At this point I wouldn't put too much stock in your PFTs considering you are pregnant but 42% is low and something to watch. But you can do it!!

AMEN!!!

Research, talk to others moms with cf, get second opinions...
It really sounds like your doc did not explain pfts well-I don't know what those #s mean at all...maybe you couldl call to get a clarification?
fyi, Before I got preg, my pfts (fev1) were in the mid 70s which is decent. My case of cf is considered moderate-mild. Halfway through my preg my fev1 went down to 50. This is normal, I was not sick. It was my lo pushing up on my lungs, restricting how much air I got in.
You can, and will get your pfts back up.
btw, I had a doctor tell me to get my tubes tied.
I found a new doctor.

Not telling you what to do, at all!!-Just relaying my experience. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
