My Mother in Hospital

Oh Linda, I'm so sorry to hear this! I will add your mom to my prayer list. It is good to decrease her O2 so she can breathe better. I would imagine they are giving her lasix--if they aren't then they should be, unless she is dehydrated...

Pnuemonia is scarey, but if she is on IV abx, then she should show some improvement in a few days. I see people that come in so sick and after some IV's feel so much better...You definitly need to see what doctor says about the xrays...

Please keep us updated. I will try to call you tomorrow. It must be horrible for you not to be able to go see her! <img src="i/expressions/hugging.gif" border="0">

Well, I spoke with dad last night and she doesn't have pneumonia or a lung infection (?) after all. I just don't get it. She is coughing periodically & she sounds like a CFer with a bad, bad cold when she coughs--very wet & rattley sounding. So if she has no lung infection:

1). why do they have her on IVs?
2). what else could it be?

You don't have to answer that, I was just making a point. I'm really leaning towards her having a lot of fluid around her lungs/heart.

I'm going to take a mask & visit today & try to get some answers.

Thank you for the prayers--I'm a big believer in the power of prayer. Jenn, thank you so much for the response. I actually printed it & am going to take it with me so I remember to ask about some things you mentioned too.

I will keep you updated...

I already sent prayers via your e-mail reply, but got enough to send more!

I don't know what to say about what your mom could be having trouble with, but would imagine the iv's would be keeping her hydrated, at least, but could also be keeping her sugar levels stable if she hasn't been eating much lately.

I do hope you get some answers on your visit and the mask, goggles and surgery scrubs help prevent you from getting the same thing!
