I should mention that with the keflex, it has a very short shelf life -- two weeks in the fridge. So rather than going to the pharmacy every 10 days, I asked the pharmacist to give me a months supply of the bottles of powder and mixed it myself. Made life MUCH easier as some days I swore I LIVED at the pharmacy.

These were the first two 'bugs' that my girls cultured. They were not treated for them unless they had symptoms, such as increased cough.

As for the antibiotic he is on, it would depend on what antibiotics the bacteria showed they were resistant to. Did they send you a copy of the actual report, or just a letter? If you get the report, it will show (or should) show the bacteria it is sensitive to.

I would assume that you will not be treated any differently during clinic appts. I know we were not. I really didn't even see a big change when my girls started culturing MRSA (except when admitted in the hospital they are isolated). Kayla just started culturing Cepacia, and now we are made to go to clinic on seperate days from the other CF children. I understand this and appreciate it. But I didn't see a difference with H. Flu or Staph.

Sorry they didn't call you with the results. At least then you could ask questions and get some peace immediately than worrying about it<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

My daughter has had both, and they give her some antibiotics, and then she is ok.
I think this bugs are pretty normal to any kid with or without cf. So if you can dont worry.
To see if he is not colonized, he must have the three next sputum culture without this bugs, which i am pretty sure he will.
