fallenarches: whew...thank you for posting back, I have been fretting it all day. I would have felt completely awful had I of scared your daughter. But I'm glad you did say something, because I do need to think about that there could be youngsters on here that I would not want to scare for anything...that would crush me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Sometimes my mouth works before my brain has a chance to kick in to think about consequences. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Hello all, I'm 29 with c.f and insulin dependent diabetic w/ asthma and celiac's disease and on oxygen,so there's most of my conditions but anyways l just had surgery number 84 almost 3 weeks ago now, but out of those 84 surgeries 43 of them have been on my sinus and ear surgeries, always with removing cyst and pylops and scraping bones down and I allergy scratch tested but not anything sinus allergy related but they have had me on flonase and nasacort and salen flushes but nothing has ever helped me not get the chronic sinus infections or pylops or cyst I just try to get into my e.n.t doc ASAP when I'm having a bad stuffy nose or draining down throat and let them suck out as much as he can and follow with antibiotics then sometimes I get lucky and don't have to have surgery/clean out but I usually end up 3 times a year having full blown sinus surgery to remove the cyst an pylops an infections or no infection but iv just learned to deal w/ it because it in the end is prolonging my life so I can be here for my husband and 3 girls who I had an there only carriers. But I hope this info helps a little. God speed, Leah

I have had 2 polypectomies in the past, and will be going for my 3rd on January 4th. I don't have allergies, only seasonal..which is even a little rare for me..this year is the first year ive ever shown signs of that.

I just hate being couped up in the house for a week.</end quote></div>

<div>
</div><div>At bare minimum, DD is going to have to have this done. Is this typically an "office" procedure or do they do it in the hospital--same day? overnight?</div></end quote></div>

<div><br></div><div>I get them done hospital-same day, in by like 7 and out by like noon or 1ish..or at least thats what i remember when i last had it done, i was like 14 then..im 23 now..it mighta been less time, i know it was early in, and afternoon out..then for me it was a week of sitting at home, no bending over and such with packing in my nose....not looking forward to it, but im very eager to be able to properly breathe again!</div>

<div><br></div><div>A WEEK at home with packing in your nose?!?!?! I've had 5 of these surgeries before (1 done at mass general in MA, 3 done in arizona at the phoenix chop, and 1 done at penn heart and lung center in philly), and I've never had packing in my nose for more then 12 hours. o_O</div><div><br></div><div>The final one that was done in philly didn't even require packing either! The ONLY painful part about that surgery, imo, was the freakin packing. ***** was nightmarish, and caused the healing areas to always throb relentlessly, triggering HORRIBLE headaches and facial pains. >_<</div><div><br></div><div>Do not have that surgery done with any doctor that claims you need to have packing in for a week. Fallenarches,

I just wanted to second what Treble posted. My DDs FESS surgery was at at CHOP in Phillie which is attached to Penn in Phillie and she had no packing. I was also told that it was a more advanced procedure used. She had her 2 week follow-up today and she has no bleeding and little suctioning while she was awake took care of the rest. I am sure that there are different types of procedures done based on the actual sinus findings, but I would ask why packing needs to be done at all. My DDs recovery has gone very well.
