I don't have any different advice than you've gotten, but I wanted to say, that if your darling baby is gaining, there is no reason not to hold off on the g-tube. The CF team we had when Connor was that age, was always happy as long as he was gaining. He too was always in the 25th precentile. I know research has changed, and they are pushing weight. Just follow your gut. You have the right attitude about the g-tube. Rest asured that the g-tube doesn't really slow Connor down at all.
Good luck to you!

25% sounds pretty good to me; my boy was closer to 15% at that age and we told the dietician to back off; a happy baby who is gaining weight counts for alot. I do not disagree with the evidence that bigger is better when you've got CF, but it is only one factor and the problem with dieticians/nutritionists is that weight/food is the only factor they think about. I'd discuss it with the doctor.

We had similar issues with DS not drinking the required amount and we WERE feeding him every 3-4 hours -- would set the alarm for the middle of the night. We were able to maintain a 50th percentile; however, we continued to use a higher calorie formula (more powder to water ratio) because we just couldn't get DS to drink more that 4 ounces at a sitting. Calorie-wise we were fine, just not okay according to the dietician regarding number of ounces.

I will say, that because I was so stressed out, DS probably picked up on it. We did fine when he was sleeping -- I would sleep fed him -- meaning he slept thru his 2:30 feeding and that was probably his best feed. He was calm, I was calmer...
