If he has had surgery in the past, it is very possible there is scar tissue formed in his abdomen. This, if irritated somehow (overeating, overexertion, harder than usual BM's etc) can be very painful. It can also cause more blockages. I kept getting blockages after my 2nd surgery. Eventually I went in because of a severe obstruction again, had to have surgery again. Everything looked ok as far as the actual intestine (no crohns disease etc), but there were adhesions throughout my abdomen. They ended up cutting out a tremendous amount of scar tissue. Now my stomach hurts all the time. If I am even moderately formed (bowels), I am in extreme pain.

Intersucception is highly, highly unusual, unless you are a small child or a CFer... so I am guessing that isn't the route at all..

Something you said triggered a question for me Mel??? The ruputured Diviticulum.. If he had that once, he is very likely to get that again... and that hurts like a MO FO...

He would need doses of Levaquin and Flagyl to get rid of it, that is how they treat it.. Gosh darn a doctor for not being there and having no one to cover.. that is just wrong..

Honeslty, ppl with ruptured divitics can have trouble pooping, sometimes peeing and they are just miserable.

My advice is, if he isn't better, go back to the ER, Tics are kind of hard to see, but should have shown up on a Catscan with CONTRAST....

I am worried, I want Robert to feel better, and healthy ppl don't just get pain in their stomachs for nothing, like a lot of times CFers do.... though ours isn't really for nothing... but you know what I mean

Well if it isn't a blockage of some sort that is visible, I have no idea what it could be personaally. Fortunately everyone else seems to have lots of good ideas. My advice though is not to wait over the weekend - GI things are something you NEVER mess around with, especially if it hurts that bad. I would do like Jenn says and go back to the ER and get more scans done if you have to or whatever it takes. Like she said, "normal" people don't get pains for no reason, unlike us. If it's there, they'll find it.

Good luck, hope he feels better soon! Keep us updated.
