Okay, the CF nurse called us Friday afternoon, and told me that Johnny's low on Vitamin D. They want him to start taking 500IU a day. She gave me a suggestion of Gummy II by the Rainbow Lite Co. I then told her I'm not sure if a "Gummy" is ideal for our little guy. He is still working on eating solids.....SO, I need a liquid capsule or other form to get into him. The CF nurse said she call in a prescription to Walgreens because of this. I think this is why Walgreens today told me they usually only give Vitamin D out in pill form...and they have to call tomorrow and find out what exactly the CF nurse means....Anyone have any ideas of any products out there we could use to help boost his Vitamin D....We live in the Seattle area, they said it's common for people in our area to have low Vitamen D...Less Sunlight....Plus, as an infant I kept out of direct sunlight...Now that is older, I'll start letting him get some more sun..

Thanks,

Sarah

My son takes a Vitamin D supplement also. It's in a gelcap that I puncture and put in his food. We have to get it from our CF pharmacy because we were unable to find anything else that would work for us. I wish you lots of luck!

I breastfeed and gave my daughter (no cf) vitamin D drops during the winter months. Enfamil Tri Vi Sol is what I used. I bought it from CVS over the counter. It stains a little so use a bib if you end up trying it.

Don't mess around with anything but calciferol. Your pharmacist can order it for you. No prescription is necessary but if you get one you might actually get your FSA to cover it which is worth it with its cost...~$80-100.
