Thank you for posting this. I have shared it with our clinic to pass along to patients as well as shared it on FB.
This is indeed devastating but hopefully if we spread the news we can get rid of it or lessen the strains.

Hmm, I just looked up the Cystic Fibrosis Canada website and they do not mention this 'breaking news'. Where did the news site get the info from? There are articles about P aeroginosa strains that are drug-resistant, but they are two years old. I'm thinking the news folks grabbed an old article of stuff we already know and pushed it.

I tried googling this as well -- found something described as the liverpool strain, but those articles are from 2004 or so. I plan to ask DS' doctor about this next month.

Unfortunately, we don't take DD to any known CF gatherings other than her CF clinic. Not worth the risk. She can decide for herself when she's an adult...until then, we're erring on the side of caution. If it's known that CF individuals can spread strains to other CF individuals, it doesn't make sense to take the chance.
