i have no idea which one i have. it sound similar to the one you have though. it's by hill rom. i've had two actually. my old school one which i traded in was huge and weighed like 30 lbs alone! someone else in here said that it clocked your usage on the bottom, the old one did. the newer one that i have (i got it like two years ago) clocks the usage on the front. i never had insurance call and check the usage or at least my mom never said anything about it. but this is what i do. on the screen there are three settings. the first one on mine is what i guess the pressure it using to beat you i guess is how you would describe it (i do 10 min cycles on 10, 12, and 14) , the second number is what it blows the vest up to (mine is set to 10), and then there is the timer (i do 10 min settings on each cycle). i think it was the doctor that actually told me what to do. the first time we saw the vest was at one of those cf convention things and i guess my mom caught on how to use that one, the old one had dials you had to turn and set kinda like a timer you would use for cooking. i don't have any complaints about my vest except that my hoses pop out from time to time. either from the machine or my vest itself and i curse at it and then i'm fine. but i do need to get a new vest one of my clips broke and a new hose i have a huge hole in one of them and i have a big wad of tape right now half way fixing it so that i can still use the vest. did you vest come with like a duffle bag? when i got mine (like i said it was at least two years ago) it came with a sort of duffle bag so i can travel with it. i would only take it on a road trip cause i can just imagine what they would do with it at an airport. i've seen them handle my neb machine before (freaked me out i thought they were going to break it). call you doctor and see what they recommend your settings to be. it's really easy to use. oh yea also does yours have the foot paddle? mine does and i never use it. good luck with it though! if you want me to i'll take a picture of mine and show you what mine looks like. so you can compare. i'm sure yours is a newer model though.

My first Vest (102) weighed over 100 lbs. LOL!

And my clinic never told me I had options of other vest systems either- Why IS that??? (*grumble*)

I understand that- I was going to say that, as far as I knew, it's not that Hillrom Vest is bad, it's just not currently considered the top choice. It still does it's job . I just wish that my doctor would have given me options, so I could decide for myself which one I wanted. Getting any one of them is still a great thing, IMHO, instead of trying to pound on yourself, lol!

Good luck with your vest. I love mine. I use late at night to relax cough spasms, I use it more when I am getting an exacerbation or getting sicker. I don't use it for 24 hours after coughing blood. don't be afraid to play with it. Start at the lowest tension on the tension dial. This is the air pressure around your lungs that the vest puts out. If it is too tight it will be uncomfortable and make you a little sore after. The vest should have come with a video tape. Watch that and see if that helps too. I use each interval for 6 minutes. I use mine three times a day and extra when I feel sick. Each treament is about 30-40 minutes long. Im glad you found out about it. I find it very helpful and it makes me feel more independent and proactive about my own care. For good measure if you don't use it you should log the time, date and reason so if you need to show the insurance company . I believe in documentation. Get copy's of your PFT's to show improvement over time. Most institutions don't mind giving you copy's. You might be able to use your documentation for Insurance purposes later on. I believe the vest has helped with my quality of Life.

good Luck to you
