Hi. Karla(now 5)was born with meconium ileus with severe perforations and had an ileostomy and colostomy done the night she was born - needless to say the worst night of our lives - She was in ICU for 6 weeks and had lots of complications, received IV feeds and started using enzymes when she was a week old. It is a time that I never want to repeat - I completely cracked up when she was a month old and there was yet another complication, but the Lord really kept us going through a tough time, and since she got out of hospital at 6 weeks she has been one of the healthiest CF kids I know. She leads an almost normal life and hardly ever has any lung infections. I really understand what you guys are going through and it is going to be tough, but hang in there and keep the faith, you'll get through it. I'll be praying for her and for your family.

Thank you so much, tomorrow they will repair her intestines currently she has a central line because she is not absorbing nutrients from her intake. Thanks so much for the encouragment and your prayers. We are so happy that Karla is doing so well. God Bless. vic

hi there, my son was diagnose at birth. he had one ostomy and started enzymes too. we were the stupid ones who crushed them.(docs didnt know better) but no real problems luckily at that time.(17 years ago) just research everything you can and keep the area clean at home. it so tough, but you will get through it.
