I think everyone of my teeth have at least one filling. I have also had teeth pulled including baby teeth because they got so bad. In addition to the cavities my teeth have a gray tinge to them thanks to the fine antibiotic, Tetracycalin, from years ago. I am sure, in addition, all the nebs & other meds plus acid etc does a number. I also think Genetics adds to my mix. Both of my parents had very bath teeth. My Mom got dentures at a very young age.

i have many cavities. i don't know precisely how many, i would guess maybe 18 or so. i also have always had tooth discoloration. even with whitening toothpaste and extra good dental hygene, my teeth will only lighten up in certain parts.

My boys have no cavaties but they do have discolouration on their teeth, I put it down to the Adek. They do get alot of build up in between brushings.

My kids don't have any cavities, but I have a tooth question too.

Has anyone read the information about lung infection and poor oral hygene? An article was out last year, I wish I saved the source. It was something about a study done in hospital patients who don't have the ability to brush their teeth. My boys hate to brush their teeth so the it freaked me out. One more thing to worry about...

Good morning everyone,

Andrew is eight and has stained teeth since he was about three years old. I've always thought it had something to do with his pulmozyme or advair. I have never had a doctor or dentist agree to this "hypothesis", but the last time we went in for cleanings our dentist mentioned that Andrew's teeth were worse. He does get a lot of build up on his teeth, but even when they are brushed well they still have yellow staining. Now my dentist is saying it could be due to the nebulizers and advair, as they are actually drying to the gum and enamel. When your mouth is very dry "stuff" sticks to them easier, causing buildup and staining. I remember him telling me once to stop using Listerine because the alcohol was very drying to the gums, so this makes since. But, as with anything else,,,who really knows?!

Ive over heard a doctor saying that immediate gunk that rebuilds back up even after brushing is caused by the casing on the enzymes. Thats the way it disperses itself out of the body. Thats what Ive heard I havent confirmed it.

Antibiotics can cause teeth to be discolored. As a non-cfer I when I had my wisdom teeth pulled, the dentist said, oh, you must've been on antibiotics for awhile. I'd been on tetracycline and some others thru out jr. high and high school for acne and he could show me the striations/lines on my teeth that were discolored.

I notice DS's teeth are discolored on the inside. I'm hoping it's just stains and not decay. Nobody's said otherwise during clinic appointments and I've mentioned it enough times. This summer I'm going to take him to my dental cleaning appointment, to see how he reacts. He won't be 3 until then and that's about the time they suggest to start sending kids to the dentist.

Yeah I'm 15, no cavities.

Here's a story of poetic justice:

In 4th grade (before I got my teeth whitened), my teeth, especially my two front top ones, were discolored. This one jerk kept teasing me about it.
Poetic Justice: a few years after 4th grade, the jerk got HIS two front teeth knocked out by a baseball and he now wears dentures.
