We did have issues with people wanting to share drinks out of their glasses. Thankfully that has stopped.

My pet peeve is my FIL and his dreaded hanky or paper towel that he carries around to wipe his nose. He has chronic sinus problems and last week had a sinus infection. He was carrying around a nasty paper towel and I instructed him to use hand sanitizer, indicated that I do the same after I use a kleenex on myself. It drove me NUTS when ds was a baby because he has a problem with kids having messy faces and he was always wiping DS' face off. Cringe. And when I complain about the hanky, he says "I took it out of the drawer this morning. It was clean". Bleah.

Hey I totally agree with you. I think they can't fathom what its like to have a baby with cf. One set of grandparents don't understand what's wrong (after explaining what cf is three times). The other set think my son doesn't LOOK sick so there's nothing to worry about. Not to mention all the cousins who's parent still bring them to the gatherings even though they're sick. Its SO frustrating! You just want to raise your kids as normal as possible but u r always explaing to others about cf.

This doesn't get much better I'm afraid!

Having CF and being pregnant I am avoiding colds etc. even more than ever at the moment. A few weeks ago we went to stay with my in-laws only to show up and for them both to tell us they'd been bedridden with bad colds all week! If that wasn't enough we went out together and my mother-in-law (who occasionally gets some asthma) *demanded* to use my ventolin inhaler <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0"> I gave it to her to keep the peace and b/c I had a spare, but honestly!!

I don't think anyone 'gets it' until they've lived it.
