Thanks everyone

I hate getting involved in legalities, but at this point, my daughter's life depends on it and I have no way of affording to relocate again, not now anyway.

After speaking with friends, I have decided to contact BP and request for them to relocate us. After all, I moved here to improve my daughter's health, which initially happened, but since the spill her health has greatly deteriorated.

I appreciate everything and will keep you guys posted !

Happy 4th of July !!!

I live in Pensacola, and you would not believe the BS the local, state, federal government, & BP are stating. The head of EPA in this area said she wouldn't swim in the gulf, but the health director for the health department can't say if the water is toxic enough for OHSHA standards. Common sense would tell ppl to stay out and away from the areas contaminated.

I would be happy to keep you and anyone else up to date since the rest of the country is getting commercials to come visit Pensacola, instead of reporting the lack of effort to get this toxic environment contained via BP & the current administration.

As far as conspiracy, I have my theories about that too. Phase 1 in condemning this area, then let the government take over our property, etc.

I just got back from Florida in the Lake Wales area and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary (I always get stuffy there due to the humidity) but I was only there for a week.

Please please please let me know how this goes, I'm very curious as to what they do for you, and I hope it all works out!

I would say that it's possible to succumb to small amounts of oil smog in the air...amounts that would otherwise not affect others. I will say that the smog from burning off the captured barrels are temporary and to look at the long term picture of CF life near a hypersaline environment. I am living proof of my own controlled longitudinal study. I grew up fighting DDF508 CF in Fort Worth, Texas and could never imagine living elsewhere. I swam competitively and ranked regionally by my junior year in HS. By senior year I was already declining quickly due to a cold and dry winter. I went to Florida for senior year spring break and the rest is pulmonary rehab history. I had 'across the board' better PFT numbers a full four years into living in Clearwater Beach. I was lifeguarding at the beach and new it to be my own hypertonic saline nebulizer before the solution even came out.

I moved up to Pensacola for grad school and guarded at Pensacola Beach from '92-'95 and only moved down to Boca Raton to start my career when I realized that Pensacola was too small for business. The people down here can be difficult, but the warmer and muggier- the better. I can tell a difference running near my house (5 miles from the beach) vs running on the beach- night and day....a could skip the Hypersal treatment if I ran only at the beach. There is nothing that could make me move inland again. My health means too much.

Rhonda, I am so with you on this. Such garbage it makes me ill. The whole Jimmy Buffett concert, the tv ads, just complete bs. The pics posted to the rest of the country look awesome, but let me tell you, it's not ! I wake up every morning to skimming boats, workers, booms, cranes...the worse of it is the dead marine life I have found, the tar balls I have gathered, which is usually more than the workers gather. I would bet our theories are the same.

I am still awaiting BP to contact me. My daughter is about to be admitted, just cannot shake it this time.

Michael I agree with you regarding small amounts of oil smog, but I am more concerned with the use of disperants such as Corexit. The same chemical used in the Exxon Valdez spill which now we know most of the people who worked the spill are now deceased, those still living have tremendous health issues, respiratory being # 1.

I only want to move my daughter to a safer area for the duration, but to always come back, this is our home, all of our family is here. The salt air and salt water are true miracles, the reason she has done so well in the past. My daughter's health means too much to me as well. I feel moving temporarily is our only option at this point. I have looked at Cocoa Beach, FL., supposedly the Atlantic Ocean contains the highest salt content ???

Blake, I will definetely keep you posted.

Take care my CF family !
