One male CF Grandchild. What's % chance of another?

Our grandson was born with CF. What are the chances that if our son
has another BOY child that it will have CF? Is there a 25%
chance, a 50% chance, or higher? Would there be a
decreased chance for CF if the grandchild were a girl?
Does anyone know if the mutated gene will be attached to every Y
chromosome? Or?
CF is not a sex-linked disease.

Therefore, regardless of the gender, your next grandchild has a 25% chance of having CF.

and a 50% chance of being a carrier of the disease (not a bad thing, but something to keep in mind), and 25% chance of not carrying the gene or having the disease.

Ditto what Amy and Candice have said.

Here's a link to my website http://www.cysticfibrosismalei...n_carrierTesting.html
This page contains a "picture" (if you will) of the probabilities of inheriting CF based on the carrier status of the parents.

We had a friend who had 6 CF kids and one non-CF. Another
friend had 4 kids, two CF and two non-CF. It all has to do
with averages and luck but with a larger sampling the above
percentages are comforting.
each kid has a 1 in 4 chance. whether or not a previous birth has CF has no effect on whether or not the next kid will have CF.

For example, if you flip a coin, what you flip has nothing to do with what you flipped before.

It seems as though many people think if they have 4 kids, only one should have CF. Not the case at all. Each probability is independent for each child.

that for me is the most upsetting thing about the randomness (not sure if that is a real word!!!!!!!!!) of cf, it seems very cruel that some families have so much worse luck than others

do you mean god only gives cf to those who can cope? i don't really believe in it , my son does though and i am pleased about that, i feel it may help him in the times ahead.
