I got a monster pill box, that I can put everything in (including my FizzyNAC) and that sits on my kitchen table. It's a weekly, 4 a day case, and I have my meds arranged by what I typically eat and which meds can be taken with my vitamins, milk/calcium, etc. I have a bunch of travel pill boxes that I can keep "extras" of the pills I take during the day, in case I am out and about longer than I thought I would be or forget to grab the ones I am supposed to take.

I also have a Xopenex inhaler that is handy to keep in my purse, in case I need an "extra shot" of it during the day (say, elevator ride with someone wearing perfume I can't take...) or in case I am nebbing in the car, and am really, really short on time.

I am supposed to have my Prandin (diabetes med) on my bathroom counter, so I can take it first thing when I get up (got it refilled yesterday, and forgot to refill the bathroom pill box -thanks for reminding me, lol).

I eat breakfast first thing in the morning, and then do my nebs. I have a Pari Trek S, that I use at least 2 times a week in the car on the way to my morning swim, for my Xopenex and HTS, and since it pretty much lives in the car, I can also take those meds with me in the evenings when I am out and get a jump starton my meds for the night on the way home or at my friends'/relatives' houses . I am still working on getting a good spot for my nasal washes worked out, but I think that may end up being a between breakfast and nebs thing.

I guess that since my nebs/meds are the one thing no one else can do for me/help me with that has to be done in a day, I have developed a bit of a motto around here, too- my house can be a big ol' mess from lack of attention- my lungs are another story! lol

Now, if anyone would like to help me get my closets and drawers organized...

Oh! When I am starting my home IVs, I put the times up on a dry erase board in the kitchen, where I (and other people in the house!) can see it often, and I have someone come over and tend to Ab when I do my IVs, so I can do IVs uninterrupted and undistracted . Usually that ends up being only once a day, for about an hour- dh is usually home for the other one or two.

Right now I try to multitask my routine as best I can.

I get up, collect my pulmozyme, colistin + mixing stuff, HS and then sit down at my desk. I take my Albuterol first (use a puffer) then start doling out my oral meds, which I place in a little dish. I keep all my meds in a bucket type thing I got from bed bath & beyond, but it no longer fits all my stuff so I have things stacked on top precariously. I take one bottle out of the bucket at a time, put the pill in the dish, then put the bottle on my desk, then only take the pills once all the bottles are out of the bucket. This keeps me from taking 2x of something, or skipping something by mistake. (kind of a necessity when you have any more than about 10 meds).

After I take my oral meds (usually with a small meal to start the day) I start my pulmozyme then mix my colistin while that is running, then do the rest of my nebulized stuff while the colistin de-fizzes.

Like NoExcuses, I also take advantage of my computer for reminders for certain meds - mainly my M W F meds, and my once weekly fosamax. It's also necessary for IV meds and such. My friend actually made a simple computer program for me that produces a popup when a med is due. I can input individual meds (like fosamax) but for morning and night things I just have one collective entry that says "Take oral meds" "Take inhaled meds" and it works great.

Sounds like this would be the best option for you, since you have things that you can't take together, and need to take them at strict times, etc. What you might do is similar to my method, except you could have individual bottles/buckets (groups of meds) that can be taken together - and set up reminders that say like 'take cipro now' 'take everything in bucket #1 now' etc.

Oh and for simplicity I keep an albuterol puffer in my purse, and one in my Med Bucket. Same for bottles of Prandin and Ultrase. I also write the names on the lids of bottles for things that i need to take prn or more than twice a day - like prandin, ritalin, etc.

One last thing, I took some viactiv chews out of the giant tub they come in (its just way too damn big) and put them in an empty Ultrase bottle - it fits a lot nicer with my other meds.

Bah, sorry for the huge post, but I strongly feel that a good routine is what lets you keep up doing your meds. My friend has given me permission to give out the program he wrote, so if any of you would like a copy of MedMinder, let me know.

These are all really good tips. Noexcuses, I like the computer reminder. I might try to get my palm pilot to work for that. Thanks all.

I used to keep a spreadsheet on the fridge that I would check everything off when I did it. However, I feel like I don't really need that anymore and I remember to do all my stuff every day.

I also do the pill box thing, I dont' think I'd know which ones I've taken without that. It's easy to travel with , too.

I also sometimes lay out my HS, albuterol, and syringe and nebs at night so I don't have to do it in the morning. I can just wake up and walk over there and start breathing.

One thing that I find odd that a couple of folks mentioned on here is eating - they eat and then do nebs. How do you do that? I have to wait two to three hours after I eat to do my nebs. If I don't, I will cough so hard while breathing HS that I will throw up. It makes it hard to schedule my day, as I am always hungry and hate waiting to eat because of my treatments!
