OT...but need help

I'd like to thank each of you for your helpful and thoughtful responses. I will look on those websites, I figured someone on here would know where to look.
We don't understand why this is happening but it is so hard for the family. They are keeping quiet, but that is what we did when I was diagnosed with CF. All it takes is one stupid person to crush your feelings. And in my cousin's situation, they don't know at this point what will happen.

I know of a baby that had stroke(s) in the womb. She can walk, but she was put through a number of test etc. She is 14 now but has a mind of a 5 years old. She also has some autisic symtoms. She a very happy child. I was thinking the same thing Mel said. Something to look into atleast.

I am so sorry this is happening to your family. Unfortunately I have some experience in this area because my son has CP in addition to CF. The lasting effects of the strokes and seizures won't be known for some time, but it can indeed cause Cerebral Palsy like Mel suggested. If she fails to reach typical developmental milestones on time (rolling over, sitting, smiling etc) then that will be a big clue that she is going to have issues. So for right now the doctors will look at her MRI and try to figure out what areas <i>might</i> be affected (by noting where the damage is and what skills that area of the brain controls) and then it will be a waiting game. Areas that could be affected are vision, speech, motor skills, hearing, cognitive function, etc. They also will most likely have therapists work with her in the first year or so to keep her on track as much as possible. Hope they can get the seizures under control and that she has a good outcome. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
