This is the one bug she has caught; that is ok by me. My daughter is a reading fool. While doing her endless nebs and VEST she has been reading books constantly for enjoyment. Diary of Wimpy Kid, Little house on the Prairie. 39 Clues. She loves series of books. Loves the Diary ones. This morning before school she has already read for nearly 50 minutes. She even brings books to bed.....Any series suggestions??????? SHe's 8. She's reading at least a book a day; I need to feed her addiction

Good girl! DS prefers zombie, mummy and ghost books, so I'm not sure I'm much help. I always liked the boxcar children, chronicles of narnia...

My daughter is nine and also loves to read. Has your daughter tried the American Girl series yet? They have historical fiction stories as well as realistic fiction. Becca also really likes the Allie Finkel's Rules for Girls series. Of course, oldies but goodies include The Boxcar Children, and anything Judy Bloom or Beverly Cleary! Congrats on raising a book-lover! It will serve her well!

I'm 32 and I still love reading kids books and young adult books! (I was most of the way through my Masters in Education when my son was born with cf and I left the program.)

There's:
-Margaret Peterson Haddix Shadow Children series (4 books)
-LM Montgomery Anne of Green Gables Series (9 books) + Chronicles of Avonlea series (2 books)
-The Sister's Grimm series (about to come out with the 9th book in the series)
-Harry Potter is always wonderful (and long, so it might take her more than a day to get through one) (7 books)
-Percy Jackson series
-The Ender's Game series is spectacular (8 books).
-Nancy Drew
-Redwall series by Brian Jacques
-The Time Quartet by Madeleine L'Engle

-There's always The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy for her to grow into. (The Hobbit was one of my favorites at that age.)

-When she's a little bit older (or if she's at a higher reading level now), the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series is great

-Also, books by Judy Blume, Lois Lowry...

-True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle (Avi) -- not a series, but good nonetheless, and he has a ton of other great books

-You also might want to check out The School Library Journal (http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/) for new books that are out for that age group.

I hope this helps! If I think of any others, I'll post them.

Thanks.

Erin

Thank you for all the great ideas! Awesome! Maggie has read some Boxcar Children series, Magic Tree house series. We haven't done the American Girl yet. That's a good idea however, my daughter is somewhat of a tomboy(like her mom) and will need a sporty American Girl.

She's read all the Judy Blume books that are appropriate, Superfudge, Doublefudge etc.

I'll need to take some of these lists to the library soon.

It's so nice to NOT have the TV on while doing treatments.
