wow that would really be hard to know her for all that time and have no idea that there was anything wrong. The reason she probably didnt tell you is because she didn't want you guys to treat her any different! so the next time you see her tell her that your glad she told you and that you looked it up. No she isn't going to die anytime soon, make a wish is for people that have terminal diseases (which means it probably will EVENTUALLY kill her but probably not any time soon).
The best thing that you guys can do for her is to always be there for her. especially if she ever has to go into the hospital. If she ever wants to talk to you guys about something you don't want her to be afraid that you will over react so do be too overprotective! just treat her like you always have.

this is so weird to find out she has this serious disease i never knew about. its like she lives in the world that i know and then a completly different one with doctors and medicines and hospital stays all the time!! like me and a couple of our other friends went to her house yesterday and she showed us some of the things she has to do everyday like the big vibrating machine with the tubes (i tried it on its fun!) and those little cup things that have the steam and the gigantic pills...lol i dont know the names. but like wow i cant believe i never knew! i dont think im treating her any different, well i hope im not. but i will so make sure she does all the things shes supposed to and we'll stay with her when she has to go in the hospital!
its good to know about make a wish too...im glad she doesnt have to die i was really freaked out!

My advice is to just treat her normally and unless she starts to talk about cf don't bring it up. I don't tell a lot of people cuz people tend to ask me if i'm feeling ok and stuff like that i am fine when people are just interested in what cf is like but it really bugs me when they act like i'm sick and tell me what i should and should not be doing i mean ya i guess technically i am sick but to me it is just normal and i get enough of what i should and shouldn't do from the doc i just want to live a normal life like any other healthy teenager. I think maybe you should ask your friend how she feels and if she wants you to ask her about how she is doing and stuff or if she wants you all to for the most part pretend like she doen't have anything. But even if she wants u to pretend she is normal i suggest visiting her in the hosptal as much as you can cuz it sucks in there and freinds make it better. IF she is like me though don't make here get well soon cards for me i feel fine all the time and it really bugs me when people get me get well soon cards. i know its nice and thoughtful of them but like i said before i want to be treated just like everyone else all the time and normal people dont get get well soon cards when they feel fine. if you have any questions feel free to e-mail me its annabananaarb@yahoo.com
