In the summer we do provide gatorade for Maggie. Fortunately, we live on the coast, where those hot steamy summers rarely exist(though with global warming that seems to be changing). Maggie eats lots of salt on a daily basis; salty pretzels, and chips are a STAPLE in our house. Beef jerky and peanuts as well. Maggie will get her yearly labs done in the summer, her sodium level has not been a problem in the past. I would not limit her activity or going outdoors, just Maggie needs to learn to drink often and more than kids her own age. Also, just FYI; those sunscreens that are waterproof and with high SPF(over 30) make it harder for you to sweat. THey clog the pores. Our pediatrician did not want us to use sunscreen greater that 15 on Maggie.
