Pain in the middle of my back

Thanks guys. Well last night I took a couple of pain relievers, and laid on a hot water bottle where the pain was, and it didn't help at all. If anything it just got worse when I coughed or took a breath, or moved even. I woke up this morning still in pain too. I'm going to do my physio again, and I think if it doesn't go away or get worse, I'm going to get it checked out. Its to the point where I can't even take a deep breath. I'm not even sure if its the muscle, because when I push on it, it really doesn't hurt at all, it almost feels like its deeper, like a rib or something, I'm not sure.

I had a mucus plug back in May that really hurt.  I thought
something was seriously wrong.  I had a bunch of tests done to
rule out a blood clot too cause of the pain.  It hurt to
breathe, cough, move in any way, even turn over in bed.  My
doctor said that sometimes he has to prescribe narcotics to relieve
the pain of mucus plugs cause they get so bad.  Maybe that's
what you are experiencing?  Mine went away after a few days it
felt better, and was completely gone within 5 days.  You are
probably coughing more cause the pulmozyme is loosening up the
mucus that is stuck in there.  Hope you feel better soon! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Well I've done physio twice today already. The first time I coughed up a few plugs and the pain went away a bit. I went for a walk seeing as how I was feeling a bit better and got a bit junky, so I did more physio, coughed more up, and the pain is back. I'm really hoping that its just plugs. I seem to be coughing a lot up, so I'm just going to keep my eye on it for the next day or so, see if it gets better. This is all new to me, I've never had a pain like this, so that's for the ideas guys.

I just got over the exact same pain as you. I couldn't breathe, cough, anything without severe pain. I couldn't even lay down because of the pain. Advil did nothing and a heat pad did nothing and it didn't hurt when i pressed on it. I called the doctor, they did an xray to rule out a collapsed lung, and then they decided it was a bad plug. they prescribed me some pain mediciation and it went away in about a week. but it was a long painful week. I hope you get better soon and call your doctor to get medicine if it gets too bad. You shouldn't have to suffer
