Hi all,
I've had some major bouts of pancreatitis in the past brought on by antibiotics. This year however, I've had two minor bouts of it that did not coincide with antibiotics. I was able to get by with pain relievers and just quit eating for 2-3 days. I've always had trouble keeping weight OFF, and am considered pancreatic sufficient.
I've not been able to really pinpoint what brought it on other than holidays/crappy eating (ate quite a few tortilla chips both times). My dr. says she suspects fatty foods, but I eat quite a bit of fat normally with no problems. I plan to start keeping a food diary to see if I can really narrow the source down.
I was wondering if any of you with cf that are pancreatic sufficient have had pancreatits much and if so, do you have an idea of what triggers it? Do enzymes help? If so, when do you take them? What symptoms do you notice when you feel an attack coming on?
I hate this so I want to try to avoid causing another attack as much as possible.
Thanks!
