PELLET STOVES?

My Mom uses one, and she has wood pellets. I have heard about corn as well, but have no experience there. I've never noticed any smoke, or smell from the stove, and it's not very new. The newer onces are probably even better. I read somewhere that the smoke particles are smaller out of a pellet stove. That sounds weird now, but I think it was on a pellet stove manufacturer website. Sophie never seemed to be bothered by it, but that was only for a couple days at a time. There must be some kind of tests that have been done on the subject of how well vented they are and how much smoke gets in the house from them...

We had a pellet stove for several years when my kids were in their teens - they are pretty clean burning - we didn't experience any problems with it.

However, our CF doctor didn't seem to think there would be any problems with it. Last year was our first winter to have it and you could never smell smoke. The only time you might not want the kids around is when you have to clean it everyday. We just use a mini shop vac and vaccuum out the ashes. The wood pellets do burn very clean and it is very efficient. We heated all winter last year for $450. We live in Kansas and had a long cold winter! Hopefully this year won't be as cold for as long. We do however buy our pellets on an early contract..we get them in August so you get a little better price. Hope this helps.
