Percussors

Being one of the "old timers" on the board. I am still amazed at these gadgets LOL!

We were taught & even today with new patients (of any age) how to do CPT manually without any cups or anything. Just your hands.....

I do agree that I think its important to master this. Should you be stuck without a vest, accapella, flutter or any other alternative CPT method....you would still be ok.

I always say its like driving a standard, swimming or changing a tire.....you just never know when you might need to know this stuff!

SORRY for the hijack.....carry on ladies!

LOL thanks Folks!

I know how to do manual CPT and thats what I am doing now, since my son decided to use his oxygen mask as a teething toy and punctured the air pocket! hahahaha

why does it seem that MY clinic is the ONLY ONE that doesnt have the percussors?

I mean, I would even take another oxygen mask, but we just had appointment on Friday and my son broke the o2 mask that night! (little bugger)

but like i said, i am always looking to make my life easier and to do what is best to help clear my sons lungs.

I'll call our clinic on monday and see if i can swing by and pick something up to help.

We'll probably be seeing them sooner than next visit because my son is now in the process of discussion between CF doc and GI doc to get a g-tube.

oh and one thing about the price- breaking down the price from buying them, they would actually be about $5 each without shipping and my original thought was to sell them in pairs, so I would pay more than $10 for a pair after shipping costs. I wouldn't want to make "big" money off of selling it, which was why i said $12-14 a pair.

I agree with Melissa. I don't know why using your hands would be a problem, since my parents did for me. Also, my almost 3-month-old, who does not have CF, loves to be patted with a cupped hand. He could tolerate it and maybe enjoy it for hours. Of course, I don't do it as hard as physical therapists would do it for me!
