Permanent Lung Damage vs. Lung Infection

I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to my question... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">

When I was 'healthy' for the past 4 years, my FEV1 was 64-65%. My oxygen saturation levels were between 97-100%.

During my sickness with pneumonia and 'running myself into the ground' while having my foster boys, my FEV1 was 49%. My oxygen saturation level was 92%.

Currently, my FEV1 is 55%; however, my oxygen saturation level is 100% which is rare. It usually isn't above 98-99%.

Does that mean that my damage is permanent because I'm at an oxygen level of 100%? Does one value always correlate with the other? I'm guessing maybe that it is permanent or else my oxygen saturation level would have been low too...

On a side note, I have contacted an ENT doctor to setup an appointment for my sinuses. I know I'll need surgery, and they were absolutely horrible this past weekend.

Thank you in advance for your answers! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

Hmmm-I'm not sure-but my oxygen is always around 97/98 and my FEV1 is 92%

my O2 sat is generally 94-95% on room air (while sitting). However, my heart rate is 120... RESTING. My sats don't really change with my lung function, my heart rate does. I'll be super sick and still at 95% saturation, but my heart will be going 150. This is the main reason I wear oxygen, to hopefully make it so my heart doesn't have to work as hard to get oxygen to my cells.

Just another factor to consider.

good question!

I'm sorry I don't have an answer, but I too am curious as my O2 sats are almost always 97/98% but my FEV1 is in the low 40s <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif" border="0">
