I see what you're getting at, but wouldn't assume a strict relationship. PFTs are sensitive to variables that have nothing to do with lung health. Even simple things, like posture can alter my PFT scores. Or, if you've been exercising and have a stronger diaphram, that can boost them. (Or if you've been sitting around, they might get weaker.) I guess I wouldn't necessarily assume the worst.
