Sounds like fun! I bet the kids would love having a pet. We are "dog people" and have a miniature schnauzer. He barks alot but doesn't shed at all (I shed more than he does, lol!). My kids love him.

Unless there is an allergy, you shouldn't need to go hairless but if hairless is what you want, then go for it!

i alwasy wanted animals when i was little but my parents didnt want to add something into my life that might irritate me but oneday we read in the paper about these dogs called Havanese. they don't shed, let me rephrase, they don't have dander...anyway, we've had him for about 15 years now and he's great! they are small dogs but super sweet. they are supposed to have long hair but we live in the woods and so we keep his hair clipped short. so cute! so anyway, you could look into them... <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

We have a black lab, cat, and a maltepoo. The maltepoo is hypoallergenic and does not shed. He does require a bit of maintenance, as his hair is pretty long and will knot up if not brushed regularly, but they are very good tempered and a mighty sweet!

Now my mom has a Havanes, which are also hypoallergenic and shed free. They cost quite a bit more than a maltepoo but are also wonderful dogs.

We love animals, shed free or not, and will always have them as long as Bricetoin never seems to have any allergic reaction! I say go for it................<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Mike and I have a standard poodle... a great big 80 pound poodle! He doesn't shed because he is one of the dogs that has hair, not fur. He is our son, haha. He kept Mike company on those long days of waiting for the call when I was at work. He kept me company when Mike was in the hospital. And he cheers us all up non-stop, he is hysterical. If you want a dog who needs to be part of everything and is non-stop fun (ok he's high maintenance but we love it) check out poodles!
