We had a Dog when Kayla was first dx and just assumed that she shouldn't have any animals so we gave him away before we even ask her Dr. He told us pets are fine as long as she didn't have any allergies to them. I know we should ask her Dr. before we gave him away, but we was not in a good frame of mind when we first found out she had cf.
Now I think we might get her a kitten, not right away.

Philosophically I am against adding any more cr*p to the air we breathe; any particulate matter is pesky even for those w/o CF. That said, we have three cats and awful wool rugs that shed more than the cats. When Francis' PFTs suck or the doctor tells us or when the cats die, I'm going to go on a cleaning bender and delete as much dust-making stuff from this house as possible. That said, I'll miss the cats-- they're actually nice and purr...

Well, I'm not a mother of a CFer, but I'm the one with CF. Each person is different, but just wanted to say that we have 5 cats and 2 dogs. I've never had any problems having them around. All of them are indoor pets. They all have free roam of the house. Maybe it's different for children, but as for me, I've never experienced any problems. Good luck!
