Amy, it doesn't have to be the same.. As long as you do them around the same time. That way you know the numbers might be different but you know it is because of the device and not that your breathing is very different. After that you can go from that number and see that as a 'good' baseline, even if it might be lower then the hospitals'. Mine is usually higher at home..

I have one by MicroLife that's great. It's digital, does FVC and FEV1 and it comes with computer software so you can track your progress. I had to ask for it specifically because they keep it behind the counter at the pharmacy, and it was about $100 with tax. One warning though - they are very addictive! I took it everywhere the first few weeks after I got it. But it is a great way to motivate yourself into doing treatments. It really opens your eyes to how different your lungs are working on days when you skip your routine.

i just bought my son one at vitsprings.com and it was only $70. but it only does fev1 but it is digital and keeps tract of up to 240 differnet #s and the date and time. hope this helps you
