I haven't had the "whole thing" done since I went to the children's hospital for clinic ... and they did it every clinic visit .... a few times if we (being my brother and I) were kept. Last time I was there I was like 16 and I'll be 25 this year.....

1x year for the full test, and they check FEV1 every time I'm at a clinic visit. For me they have to do 1x year full PFTs for insurance reasons.

Thanx for the replies guys! Good to hear the full blown PFT's aren't done that often, coz i'm not gonna lie, they're a huge pain in the ass and it's exhausting having to do it. I feel weird asking about it b/c getting the full she-bang done is my biggest enemy. I remember getting them done as a kid i would cry b/c i hated them so much

My CFC has a goal of 1X a year with the full work-up and every 3 months for just a spirometry.

One time I was questioning how you tell your lung volume on this board, because I thought that the spirometry doesn't measure your actual volume, but rather measures the amount of restriction or obstruction. Not that it matters, because if you're obstructed, you can't use all of your volume anyway, but that's another thread....
Anyway, "someone" here sent me a PM along with the following link that was very helpful for me. It explains the "box" test and what it measures.

My girls get basic PFT's done every 3 months, or more if sick. The 'Box' is tried at each appt, but my girls do not do well with it. They completely freak out and we get no numbers at all<img src=""> I feel bad that I can't get them to do it. I wish I could sit in the box with them, but since I can't, it is really hard to force them to do it. I understand that there is a short amount of time in which they feel like they cannot get any air, and since they have both experienced it, it is hard to get them back in.

Any suggestions?
