I have had that happen on both arms once when a home infusion nurse came to place a midline. She said she kept hitting a valve and could not get it to thread. I know dehydration can def. play a role in getting piccs or even peripherals in. The vein isnt "plumped" up enough. My one homecare nurse used to tell me to drink a full glass of water and then shower right before she got here to help plump up the veins. I am surprised that they didnt just put in a regular peripheral for the time being. I hope Monday goes better for you.
