PiCC site healing

I had my PICC pulled on Monday. I left the gauze bandage on until the next morning. When I put a new bandage on I notice a black scab. The next day I changed the bandage again and the scab was still there. Tonight the scab fell off and I am left with a lovely hole. Ick!

How long does it normally take to heal?? Should I be covering it and caring for it differently?? I really don't want an infection or lots of scaring.

any access to blood should be closed up by now.
You should be fine, cover it up if it's sensitive or makes you feel better.

it will heal...it'll take a while, but eventually you'll just be left with a little red dot on your arm. It may even end up pink. I have a couple that are red, and the very first ones I ever got are not very noticeable at all anymore. Once the scab was gone and it didn't bleed, I didn't cover it just b/c it itched if I did, so, keep it covered only if you want to. Sometimes I'll keep them covered too just b/c they tend to look ugly, lol. It's up to you. In a week you'll have very little evidence of a PICC line.
