PICC woes

I would deff give them a call. They can do an ultrasound and make sure that there isnt a big blood clot and its just phlebitis. There is nothing that you can do for that, just heating pad and asprin. I have been there more times then I can count, its not fun and it hurts, Im sorry you have to fo thru it.

Hi. I've had this same pain with PICCs in the past. Unfortunately, unless the cath is in a bad spot, there isn't much to be done. Just Motrin or whatever and heat packs. Good luck!. I hope it does come out tomorrow for you!

My last few PICCs have been really bad. My veins are just getting way too scarred up. The last one, they hit the nerve, which I'd never had happen before. Uh yeah, good times. I am terrified to get a port though. I'm not sure I'm ready for something that permanent, which I know sounds silly. Do many of you have ports?

Believe you me, he was never allowed to do my picc's again!

I was kind of hesitant on the port idea for a while too, for the same reason - something permanent. However, after having increasingly more difficult times with picc's b/c of scar tissue, I was ready. I got mine this past October. I love it! I wish I had done it sooner. I think everyone that has a port will say that exact same thing. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif" border="0">

I NOW HAVE EASY ACCESS AND IT IS PAIN FREE WHEN I HAVE TO HAVE ANTIBIOTICS, AND THE BEST PART IS I AM STILL ABLE TO DO EVERYTHING AND MY ARMS DONT HURT FROM THE PIC LINES. I THINK ALL CF PATIENTS THAT GET IV ANTIBIOTICS SHOULD REALLY CONSIDER GETTING ONE.
